What kind of mics do you use for Goyfire?

I bought a 30 dollar mic at Best Buy and it is horrible.

I use this one from Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2036282&cp=2032061.2032365.2032388&parentPage=family

It works pretty well and sounds good. I made one mod which was to take a small piece of thin foam and wrapped and rubber banded it around the mic on the boom to kill pops.

Yes, those are nice and convenient. You'll definitely get a better, deeper sound out of a condenser mic. The bassier FM sound. That one is also nice because it plugs right into a USB port on your computer.

For vocal recording such as a talk show, I suggest the Shure PG58. At Best Buy it runs around $60.00. It has XLR connections so if you plan to hook it to something other than a pro audio mixing console, you'll need some adapters to reduce the cables from XLR to the correct jack for your equipment (1/8 or 1/4). Best Buy seems to not carry the adapters nor mic stands, but Radio Shack does. Radio Shack adapters are $10.00 to $15.00 depending on the ones you need and they have a desktop mic stand for around $9.00.

Shure PG58

Best Buy also carries some Audio Technica mics that are decent and a little cheaper than the Shure. They have a ATR20 Unidirectional mic with 1/8 connector and a 1/4 adapter for around $20.00 and the ATR30 with XLR connectors for about $50.00.

Nigger-rig is soooo not politically correct! Am I the only one who knows its polite to say the correct term is "Afro-Engineered" ? Oops, its March and no longer Black History Month!
