Moving on. Is anyone here interested in Natural History? I find the whole native history so muddied with PC BS that I stay away from it largely. However, most people in our area overlook this region's rich natural history.

This all started for me when I was a young kid. The local news announced that an entire long extinct whale skeleton had been dug up during some contruction on the Savannah River Site (nuclear bomb making site). As a kid, I didn't think about the fact that the whale had been found probably 500 meters underground or that where it was found wasn't terribly far from the ocean. I asked anyone I could find what they knew about the whale and how it got there.

Naturally, most people just told me that the whole area had been underwater at one time. So I started looking for signs of my own. Well, I found fossil sand dollars and snails first. A creak had worn its way through a hill, exposing lots of fossils back in the woods near my house. I was nuts for my new hobbie. Hunting indian artifacts took a backseat (still kind of does).

Just the other day, I heard some negro commedian making fun of whites for studying everything. I decided it was time to get back to my work of digging for fossils. I made several trips to the woods to find about 3 or 4 fossil sand dollars and a few arrow heads and a skinning knife. Neat but nothing I hadn't seen before.

Then came last weekend. Myself and a few others were camping and scouting an area for an upcoming outdoors weekend. I took a morning to climb around on the high banks of the creak by myself. You'd never guess what I found, half buried in clay. I found a HUGE clam shell. Half of it was cased in rock but it was mostly intact. I always dismissed the sanddollars as possibly a bread that grew in fresh water or something the local indians took in trade (the area is 60 miles inland ruffly). There was no denying this clam came from the ocean. I'll post pictures later on.
