I got this warning today re a new virus:

Please Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as
>>Yahoo,
>>Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning direct from
>>both Microsoft and Norton.
>>
>>Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.
>>
>>You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point
>>presentation
>>"Life is beautiful"
>>
>>If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete
>>it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your
>>screen
>>saying: "It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful."
>>Subsequently
>>you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will
>>gain access to your name, e-mail and password.
>>
>>This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL
>>has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software's are not
>>capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls
>>himself "life owner ."
>>
>>PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to PASS
>>IT
>>ON IMMEDIATELY

I never open any unexpected mail. No matter how inviting it seems, its gets deleted. Especially if the size (KB) is in the hundreds.

This is one that keeps coming back like a case of herpes.
Still, good advice to be wary of stuff found in your mailbox.

Yeah, external hard drives are a must if you store family/0ersonal photos (thanks to digital cameras/recorders) and other important documentation on it. Unfortunately the more expensive ones are the best ones with the most space (250 MB).

I'm not sure what you mean by expensive, but a good external HD with 20 gigs shouldn't run over 100 bux. I paid less for one about 7 years ago, and it still functions flawlessly. Check out the ViPower Smart Family series. 13mm X70mmX125mm. Memory sticks are smaller and cheaper. I guess you get what you pay for. Anyways, just sayin'....

If it weren't for me, where would I be?

I've seen 'em up to $300.00. However that is like the luxury class of externals. But yeah, there are several options for around the $100.00 mark. Sticks may be more convienient for storing certain files seperately too.
