I don't think he can, a newspaper has the right of refusal if they find it offensive, but since it's a political ad maybe somehow the law might be different, is it really worth sueing?

I'm pretty sure you can sue radio stations.

According to him, the Supreme Court ruled they could make YOU the owner of the radio station if they denied an ad of someone running for office.

Glenn , you are a jewel

Glenn back in the 70s J B Stoner ran for statewide office in Georgia and he had an ad that used the word nigger. One of the Atlanta televitz stations refused to run it, but he sued them and the courts back then said that a political ad could not be refused unless it was obscene. In this day and time, who knows how the courts would come down.
I agree that 4 out 5 ain't bad.

Yeah, Steve Fairchild, that particular newspaper owner told me about 7 years ago he'd never again print anything I wrote (referring to letters-to-editor). In fact, all 8 local small town papers told me the same thing at one time or another since I moved here 13 years ago, but using different words. 3 years ago, after 10 years of printing my LTEs, The Aurora Advertiser made the decision to censor me completely, after a mob of local soccermoms and girli-men, led by a university professor, stormed their office, threatening to lead a boycott of advertisers, unless they stopped printing my "racist, anti-semitic" letters.

It's only now I'm learning that many are willing to accept my money for paid campaign ads.

Btw, unlike radio and TV stations, newspapers are not required by law to run political ads by federal candidates for office. I phoned the FCC in Washington again yesterday, and they confirmed this. (Hope Cooper, head of the FCC's media bureau - tel: 202-418-1440)
