Old Mining Works/Hiking Video (East-Central California High Desert)
A good and fun historical video, filmed in the Inyo County, California area (near the Nevada border).
Trivia: It was White people (i.e., the Romans) who developed "modern" mining techniques, such as hydraulic mining.
I have known two miners: one worked for a big copper mine. The other was a "lone-wolf" miner who had a great talent for finding placer gold (stream bed deposits; nuggets, gravel, or dust) out in the deserts and mountains. Today, anybody can be a "lone-wolf" gold prospector, thanks to modern technology. There are now gold-finding metal detectors available (of course, that doesn't mean you'll find any gold with them, since gold is a very rare element).
Leftists hate mining. "The miners are raping the land!" the leftists scream. No, they aren't. Leftists are simply idiots who cannot think logically. (But, electric cars are horrible for the environment: lithium-ion battery waste, both from the mining surrounding the battery manufacturing and from the dumping of the 900-pound dead batteries, is not at all "green." Just the opposite).
