Yo. In '03, this place was the shizz-nit. It was rizzle dizzle on the mo' sizzle.
Nowadays, tumbleweeds come bouncing down NeoCon Watch, and "current events" still has "SARS: a bio threat?" or some gay-ass shit that's like 900 years old still up.
Now, don't get D-Doug wrong. I used to love OD. It was, dude, like the rare place on the web where I obviously wasn't the smartest WN/racially conscious/paleo around, not even by a long shot. I learned. I observed. I heard. I wrote. I listened: to Wintermute, to Il Ragno, to AntiYuppie, even ol' Tex. (I am Hugh Lincoln there, btw.) But IR got banned. Others left. I don't even see Franco there these days. In short, OD died. Yet I mourn its death. It was informed. It was erudite. Its posters knew Latin. They knew law (I was far from the only lawyer on the board), history, media, everything. These were some very, very wise anti-Semitic white guys. The big Linder joined and would poke fun, his right, but I loved the place. I am sad its glory days seem to be over.
That site was awesome, I rarely posted there (only a few times) but read it everyday, it was certaintly had some of the best brains in the movement. It was like the "think tank" of the Paleo-WN movement. OD made a caricature of the usual "racist" and "extreme right winger" stereotype and what it represented.
Yes, I agree. I was weaned from SF because the intellectualism was sorely lacking, and this was all before VNN forum, which (I just have to be honest here) has not yet quite reached the status of VNN proper. There was as the time no "smartie" place I could go, other than OD, on the Web. It was honest-to-God back and forth on all the issues, including the Hebes, with some DAMN sincere people. Stormfront, American Renaissance... none of it could even hold a Menorah candle to OD. SF just has a lot of "isn't it terrible, the double standard against whites?" newbies, and AR is not (or was not) interactive, and bans the big issue anyway. Mostly, I miss Il Ragno, because he made me laugh. Dare say the man was cleverer than ol' A. Linder at times, God bless him.
Many former OD members now post at The Phora forum.

OD will bounce back. It's had dry spells before but when things pick up it will roll again I'm sure. I posted there for awhile as Ragnar but I got to working too much overtime to keep up with two forums, so I stick to this one.
Didn't know Il Ragno got banned. Damn stupid, that. He was the main draw.

OD used to be great, no doubt about it. Then they started giving the cold shoulder to brilliant writers like Il Ragno, and it went south fast. I'm very sorry about it. The same implosion happened to the equally great Sam Francis forum before it.
As for the Phora, I posted there a few times, but just never warmed to the place: too many leftist assholes. Maybe I should pop in now and then anyway, just to keep contact with old friends.

The most interesting and thought provoking mainstream paleocon magazine out there is Chronicles. I'd say, by Morris Dees (the definition of PC) standards, Chronicles is on the line between "right wing extremism" and "neo-nazism", while National Vanguard would clearly be classified as "neo-Nazi" (hence, I don't consider it "mainstream"). Chronicles has some great writers working for it; naturally, they're all described as "hate-mongers" by "respectable" (ZOG) journalists, but nowadays, there are no good paleocon writers left besides these "hate-mongers". They've stayed the course while all the "republican" mags have sold out to zion long ago. Just wondering, does anyone else subscribe to Chronicles?
Was never quite WN, but once a very interesting site. Like so much else, destroyed by Christian intolerance.

I did for about 15 years or so, until recently ending my subscription. I think TAC does a better job - though it would be lightspeed degrees more impressive if Scott McConnell were removed from being the day-to-day editor. However, the magazine, Chronicles, despite having a few contributors I still enjoy, has gone down a very odd path. It became so focused on Serbia on other little odd bits of esoterica, its real purpose became a bit murky. Since I'm only going to allot a specific time amount on tree-zines, I'll take Taki's scotch-laden outbursts on anything he feels like over Fleming's, "Do we really have to talk about race when there's opera set designs we haven't gone over..." Also, I get his, Taki's, other mag from Britain, Right Now, as it has its teeth filed a tad more than either. Plus, you get a British angle to boot.
