Children as young as 11 are being offered pole dancing lessons by their council, it has been revealed.
The two hour 'beginners' sessions' are described by the organisers as a 'great way to keep fit and have lots of fun at the same time.'
But a family values group criticised the classes for promoting 'sexually precocious behaviour' in the pre-teenage participants.
Dr Adrian Rogers of Focus on the Family said: 'Pole dancing is an erotic, sexually arousing form of dancing around a pole that is often viewed as a phallic symbol. ''
