I bet you never questioned where your property taxes and sales taxes go.

Thanks to the internet you can now go lookup where your money goes to by finding your local city budget.

Almost universally in every city in the nation you will find that Police and Fire consume at least half of all tax money.

But you ask isn't maintaining streets, sidewalks and other public infrastructure what a city is meant to do?

Shouldn't that consume most of the tax dollars?

HA! Street maintenance is usually a small portion of the budget largely ignored sometimes even behind Library "services".

The mafia exists largely by charging people for "protection" do they not?

So go and google your city name and the word budget and see for your own eyes.
