I'm having some problems here. I think I have a couple confessions to make. I listen to rap music. Alot. I love it. I also listen to soul and funk music. Again, alot. Particularly stuff from the early to mid 70's. Smooth as silk really. You ought to try it. But, I digress...

My mother's parents were Jewish. They were Italian Jews, Babylonian Talmud reading, Torah believing, Friday night candle lighting, seder celebrating Jews, plain and simple. It's true. My mom married a RomanCatholic, much to their chagrin, and left bubby and papa behind in the old country, and I was their first born, here in the good old US of A, and I was raised pretty much non religiously myself as neither of my parents were religious themselves. But all the same I've always thought of myself as Caucasian, no doubt. Which was why I was surprised to find that you learned folks don't consider Jews to be white. What do you consider them ( us?) then ??? I was just as irritated as you by Kanye West's remarks after the hurricane. And by (some of ) the blacks' behaviour down there in the aftermath. But I can't continue to associate with you guys, all things considered. Even though we might both get angry at the blacks from time to time, all things considered I'd rather be a friend to the black people than an enemy. And furthermore , for me the fact of the matter is , no matter whether I deny it or try to wriggle around it by just calling myself Italian or Italian-American rather, or whatever, by maternal ancestry I'm a Jew. And to the Jews that means I'm one of them. And that puts me , it seems, at the opposite pole as all of you. If your long-talked about "race war" ever comes, which I (and all other sane people) highly doubt by the way, I'm fighting on the side of the people who judge other people based on their individual characteristics and personalities, not race or skin tone or sexual orientation or religious creed alone. I don't even think you all are Americans at all (those of you who live here that is). And by the way "Antiochus Epiphanus" you don't really belong here either. You're part Turk and therefore you might as well be bowing down to pray to the east a few times a day instead of playing games on a website like this.
