Last night as I was going to bed, I turned on WWL, 870am from New Orleans. It was just before midnight, central time. A local show (I think) was going off the air (to give way to Art Bell/Coast-to-Coast).
The host was wrapping up going into the news break.
A (closely) paraphrased transcript:
". . .you may remember that web poll we began at the start of the show. We asked, 'Immigrants: Do they steal Americans' jobs or do they do jobs Americans don't want to do?'
"Earlier the results were 71% said immigrants steal American jobs and only 29% responded that they do jobs Americans won't do.
"Well, it's flipped-around entirely. The final results are 51% say immigrants do jobs Americans don't want to do, and only 49% say immigrants steal American jobs.
That's all the time we have. See you tomorrow. Good night."
Cuts straight into national news.
A true WTF moment, not to mention unbelievable. I'm reminded of the stories of the Soviet Union, where if they reported it was raining you'd best check outside for yourself.
