Mother pleads not guilty in slaying of 3-year-old in Las Vegas
The mother of a three-year-old girl whose body was found in a Las Vegas trash bin pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony murder and child abuse charges.
24-year-old Gladys Perez remains jailed without bail on murder by child abuse and child neglect charges.
Trial's set for August 22nd on charges that could get her life in prison in the slaying of her daughter, Crystal Figueroa.
The little girl's body was found January 12th in a trash bin at an apartment complex a couple of miles east of the Las Vegas Strip. She became known as Jane "Cordova" Doe for six weeks -- until her grandmother in California's Tulare County reported her missing in February.
Perez's lawyers have suggested her 28-year-old boyfriend -- Marc Anthony Colon -- is the one responsible for the girl's death.
Colon was arrested in Minnesota -- and is now jailed in Las Vegas pending a court hearing on murder by child abuse charges.

Crystal Figueroa's mother pregnant again

She's behind bars accused of killing her daughter and leaving her in a dumpster. Now Gladys Perez is expecting another child. According to several News 3 sources, including Perez's husband, Gladys Perez is at least three months pregnant.
Saul Figueroa says the whole thing is crazy. He says he found out about the pregnancy when he came to Las Vegas to visit his wife in jail. He says his mother-in-law told him the news and so did Gladys. He says he was in jail when Gladys got pregnant so there's no way he's the father.
Saul Figueroa has been to Las Vegas twice in one month. In early March he visited the place where his daughter Crystal was found murdered. This past weekend he paid a visit to his wife Gladys Perez who's behind bars accused of the murder. By phone, he recounted the shocking news he heard from Gladys.
"'Yeah, I'm pregnant' crying, 'I don't want the baby.' She said that he raped her. She says she doesn't want to have it," is how Saul described his conversation with Gladys Perez.
Figueroa says his wife is 3 to 4 months pregnant with Mark Colon's child. Colon
is Gladys' boyfriend. He is also accused of Crystal's murder. Colon and Figueroa knew each other from jail. Colon got out and hooked up with Figueroa's wife.
Figueroa says he agreed to visit his wife in jail only for his daughter Leslie's sake. They talked for 5 minutes; the conversation focused on his daughter.
"I don't talk about the case. I don't talk, let alone know law justice on whoever did it. He'll pay for what he did," said Figueroa.
Figueroa says his marriage to Gladys is over but he won't deal with it until later. They are high school sweethearts but he says he loves her as a friend. He wonders about her involvement in Crystal's death and feels that Mark Anthony Colon is mostly to blame.
Gladys Perez was indicted by a grand jury last week. That means her case will go straight to trial. Her boyfriend, Marc Anthony Colon, is expected to be in court this Thursday.
