ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis has the nation's highest infection rates for two common sexually transmitted diseases.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday that St. Louis has been plagued by high rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea. Last year, nearly 7,500 new cases of the two diseases were reported in the city.
Nationally, a record number of people were diagnosed with chlamydia in 2006, topping one million.
The St. Louis Health Department held a task force meeting Tuesday to address concerns about the growing number of STDs.
