I've been thinking about Hitler's mistake, one of his biggest, namely, his allowing the British army to escape back to their island, rather than exterminating them like so many lice at Dunkirk.
Don't you think it's odd that a successful artist like Hitler, who would probably know that the bulldog was England's favorite symbol of itself, wouldn't intuit how people who CHOSE an UGLY and VICIOUS beast as a symbol of themselves and their most prized and representative qualities, again, CHOSE it, it wasn't foisted on them, it's THEM saying THIS is WHAT we are - isn't it odd that this political artist didn't, wouldn't or couldn't sense how this people to his act of magnanimity would respond?
