Lord Alfred Tennyson's pre-Darwin attempts to reconcile the suffering of non-human animals in the presence of an unconditionally loving God. In the end he reaffirms his slavish, philosemitic devotion to abrahamic sky-gods, who rule the heavens over Whitelandia.
