The 10 most expensive cities on the planet
Every year the Economist Intelligence Unit's World Wide Cost of Living Survey highlights most expensive places on earth to live. We highlight the top 10.
For more than thirty years, The Economist has produced the Worldwide Cost of Living survey. New York is taken as the base city and more than 400 individual prices are compared across 160 products and services.
Food, drink, clothing, rent, transport, bills, schools, and entertainment are all looked at as part of the survey, which is intended to assist human resources and finance managers with calculating compensation packages for expatriates and business travellers.
