The bible is full of symbolism and is open to interpretation. The parables are meant to be "life lessons" as opposed to be taken literally. Take what you like and ignore what you don't.
I agree that the bible has been corrupted over the past 100 or so years.
Didn't a seciton of the bible become removed (King James?) because it was too caustic towards opponents of Jesus?

That's probably it. I've been out of the loop for a while now, but I'm slowly starting to reclaim all that has been lost.
The "King James" bit, I just realized was a version of the bible, correct? Apparantly it was controversial and I've heard it was the version to get, if one is inclined to do so.
