I figure this is the best way to tell everybody what happened to me. I had this huge trip planned out, stopping at everyone's house or compound for an hour or two, staying the night at my northernmost destination. I got sick as hell for some reason. My head was hurting, I was running a low fever and I thought the flu might be back. It wasn't a thought out decision to sleep it off either---I pretty much fell onto my homemade sofa (see pics in earlier thread to see the best sofa/bed ever) and didn't get back up until about 4:00. After that, I stayed awake until 5:00 and went back to sleep until around 7:00. Thats when I called all the local guys, (except for a few) and asked them to go to the range.
I was sick as hell still but I wanted to shoot. I did that for maybe 2 hours and then left to go to a relative's workplace to show off my best target. Anyhow, after that I went by borders and luckily there was no band playing so I stayed awhile. I was combat-Drake so everyone must have figured I was there to bomb the place instead of browse the linux magazines. So now I'm jacked up on coffee and making this post.
(For you viewers at home, "Combat-Drake is a version of me like "Go-To-Town-Drake" or "Warm-weather Drake." Combat Drake is me wearing black or some obscure European camo pattern BDUs, combat jacket, normally some sort of assualt rigging. weapons and a backpack. Needless to say I wasn't wearing all of that in the bookstore and only half of that at the range. Go-To-Town-Drake is more simple: Buck Axe, flight jacket, jeans, tee shirt and white power belt that everybody says, "does your belt say white power on it?" upon taking notice. Warm-Weather-Drake is still in the works. Last year it was some sort of clothe hat and something to keep the sweet out of my face, sandles--Rhodesians mecenaries wore sandles too--camo shorts and tank top and knife/machette. You can combine Warm-Weather-Drake outfitting with Combat-Drake to make Hot-Combat-Drake. Thats my favorite for summering in South Carolina.)
