I (and I bet some number of other VNNers) was watching a lot of cable when that case broke and they put him on the ten most wanted. There were some scathing comments about "why?" and "it doesn't make sense" by a number of talking heads, but no one nailed it the way you did.

I don't know. I talked to my parents about it once when I was a kid. They said it wasn't really forbidden but that Paul(?) I think it was Paul- had advised against it. I think the feminist christians would fuss over it, but the rest of us folks could make it work.

It's not common in western society, so most of us don't know what to do. I imagine there's some tricks to it. How do you be a good husband to three wives? Are there any mormon husbands willing to discuss daily matters with strangers? What do you do if they get jealous of each other? What are the sleeping arrangements? Do multiple wives take good care of each other's children, or is there friction? Do you need to keep the groups apart? What if two of them are pregnant, bothe with boys, and they both want to give the sons the same name? Can you have Roy and Roy or do you have to step in and make one or both of their names something else? Does the oldest wife by age have authority over the others, or does seniority go to the first wife you married?

I want to know more about how this works. I may never have multiple wives, but I'd like to have two or three.

Is it best to assign tasks permanently, or should the girls rotate through a schedule? Permanent assignment would develop expertise, but rotation would teach them all up to about the same level and interchangability would be invaluable if one of them were sick or too pregnant to work.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just a male wet dream, to have multiple wives, available to sleep with anytime the urge strikes. I'm not interested in sharing my husband with other women. We are committed partners to each other, and we work "together" on life - we don't need more women in the mix. I'm perfectly capable of cleaning the house, doing the laundry, raising my kids, taking care of my husband and working a job without the help of another woman in the house.

Besides, I much prefer to be around men (for the most part). I have a few women friends, but most women drive me nuts because they talk too much about nonsense and I'm usually not interested in the things they are interested in.
