USA has entered the first stage of civil war ... and there is no turning back now!

VHeadline.com commentarist Oscar Heck writes: I cannot not write about New Orleans and the reality behind the tragedy ... and I mean the massive human tragedy after the hurricane swept the area.

My wife and I spent most of the day watching live television from New Orleans on the internet. The station we were watching was WWL TV ... and you too can keep up with the local New Orleans news on WWL TV by going to the Yahoo.com website and clicking on "Live local video" at the right hand side of the screen.

You can also see over 600 photos of the disaster and the suffering.

We also spent a portion of the day researching, downloading and watching video clips of well known people talking about the event ... people like Geraldo Rivera, Paula Zahn and rapper Kanye West.

All the above are very moving, emotional and heart-wrenching ... and for the first time, I saw Rivera being authentic, human and genuinely touched by the misery which is usually so well hidden by the likes of Fox, which he works for. He had been in foreign wars in the past and he never (to my knowledge) demonstrated the emotions which he demonstrates in the above links.

Kanye West hits is right on the button when he states: "Bush doesn't care about Black people."

I will explain ... please bear with me ... it is extremely hurtful to write about this ... especially because the US government is attempting to get rid of Chavez ... and wants to bring back the criminals who ran Venezuela for more than forty years ... copycatting the US model ... and much worse.

I do not want to see Venezuela go back to the already blood-soaked claws of Bush-like dictators and anti-humanitarians such as Carlos Andres Perez.

We begin ... and I am sorry if I shed tears, anger and frustration along the way.

What Rivera and the other reporters (on site in New Orleans) witnessed, I experienced in person in the devastation of the Venezuelan barrios in the 1970s ... raw sewage, dead rats, chickens and dogs and maggots and vomit sweeping through tin and cardboard, mud-floored shacks during heavy rains ... for days at a time ... and the stench of dead humans who were unable to afford medication ... dying alone in their improvised homes ... almost all dark skins ... the majority 80% of the Venezuelan population ... not like the Venezuelan Miss Universes we have so often seen ... who represent a small minority of what Venezuelan women look like ... while a majority of Venezuelan white skins and their cohorts raped the wealth of the country, partied endlessly, drank the "best" whiskies and smoked the "best" cigars, and treated the dark skins like slaves as a matter of custom, paid them undignified wages, way below poverty level ... and worse yet, spoke openly against the dark skins (and they still do today), calling them names such as thieves, lazy drunks and monkeys from the hills.

Imagine what it must be like for the minority 20% of the population to call the majority 80% such names!
Can you imagine it?

Isn't this like apartheid South Africa or Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) ?

I also saw extreme poverty it in India ... in the chawls (sp.) and on the sidewalks (millions live/d on sidewalks) ... and in Cairo ... and in Kuala Lampur ... and in Saudi Arabia (yes there are "slums" in Saudi Arabia ... the workers' quarters ... and it does rain, very heavily at times) ... and I saw it in the Bronx. I held the dying in my arms ... those who could not afford medicine. I held and hugged young children, stroking their small half-maimed bodies with tears cascading from my eyes ... young children who were deliberately mutilated for the purpose of begging ... eyes burned out, ears cut off, tongues cut out, legs broken, twisted and atrophied.

Finally (!), Rivera, and the other reporters, felt what I have felt for almost 30 years ... especially when I see such human tragedy existing side by side with gluttony, avarice, excess wealth, superficiality, materialism, arrogance and Christian righteousness ... unbridled whiteman's capitalism, for short.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against capitalism ... unless it is practiced at the detriment of others. Unfortunately, capitalism, no matter how I see it, has failed every test in the book.

I will diverge for a moment here.

I had a very interesting discussion with a full-fledge capitalist recently ... one who believes that the looters in New Orleans should all be shot dead by the US military ... regardless of why or what they are looting (and he evades taxes!) ... one who believes that the vast majority of poorer people are lazy drunks, drug addicts, criminals and thieves ... the same as what most anti-Chavez Venezuelans think.

As we discussed, at times rather fiercely, it occurred to me to present reality in the following fashion. He then calmed down and went, "Hummm ..."

Overall as a general rule, about 20% of the population makes lots of money and 80% of the population makes substantially less ... including in "civilized" regions such as the French-Canadian province of Quebec, where 80% of the people make less than about US $25,000 yearly, before heavy income taxes.

As a general rule, in most foreign countries which were "settled" by the Europeans, the 80% is darker-skinned and the 20% is whiter-skinned.

Now, as a general rule, I estimate that about 20% of the entire population is excessively greedy and will use almost any measure to acquire more (i.e., crooks), 20% couldn't care much about money or materialism (we can call them "lazy drunks," for example) and about 60% care about money and material goods and comfort and will acquire them in a normally honest fashion, for example, by working hard for it (honest workers).

Based on a population of 1,000 people, where 80% are poorer and 20% are wealthier, the figures are:

As we can see:

There are 4 times as many poorer crooks than wealthier ones.

There are 4 times as many poorer lazy bums as there are wealthier ones.

But, there are 4 times as many poorer people who are honest workers compared to wealthier ones.
The percentage distribution of human traits (or tendencies) is the same throughout the population but the numbers represent the reality which most of us perceive.

For example, in many parts of the world, the wealthier are whiter-skinned and the poorer are darker-skinned. Venezuela is a prime example of this ... and so are many parts of the USA.

Based on the above figures, these numbers translate into false interpretations of reality. In an adult population of perhaps 150 million (in the USA) you would have about 30 million crooks, some of them in jail, but many committing crimes. Of these 30 million there would be 24 million darkskins and only 6 million whiteskins!

This is why so many people think that Blacks and Latinos in the USA are more criminal that whites, which is completely false. The same figure applies to the amount of "lazy drunks." Such perceptions create the stigmas which are so wrongfully and inaccurately inflicted upon the poorer population of this world by the wealthier minority.

Criminality and greed are not exclusive to any race or color, it is exclusive to human beings.

Now, since people generally fear crime (and do not fear honest hard-working people) the "fact" that in the USA you have, for example, 72 million hard-working poorer (darker-skinned) people and only 18 million hard-working wealthier (whiter-skinned) people, goes almost completely unnoticed!

As is the case in the USA, it is the case in Venezuela, in most of Latin America, in much of the world ... and in New Orleans.

This leads to what my wife and I discovered today about the real situation in New Orleans. According to the live news from New Orleans on WWL TV and according to the reporters seen in the above video clips, it has been confirmed that the vast majority of the people who remained in New Orleans during the hurricane (almost all Black), women and children and babies and old people, the sick and the dying (some of whom died in the cramped location with the others, unattended and unable to get out !!!) ... were in fact corralled like animals into different locations by the "authorities" ... and they were not allowed to leave. They were physically forced, at gun point, to remain at several cramped and stinking locations with no water or food for days ... after the hurricane passed.

As I write, many are still there!!!

Why?

Worse yet, food and water had arrived days prior ... but these poor innocent people were not given the supplies ... and no one can figure out why.

We are talking about thousands upon thousand of innocent people here, some of them dying while waiting for assistance!

What is known and what was confirmed today by the local news on WWL TV, was that before attending to the people, the police (or other forces whom no one dares to mention by name) concentrated on keeping people off the streets (apparently afraid of increased crime ???) and did not want people to leave New Orleans for fear that they would arrive at nearby areas which were not affected by the hurricane and begin to loot in those areas (???).

The most unbelievable thing is that if you look at the pictures and the video clips, the vast majority are women, old people, sick people, children and babies!!! Many babies!

The USA has entered into the first stage of civil war ... and there is no turning back now.

If they thought that the looting by lazy, "black" drunks and criminals in New Orleans was a serious concern, they are up for a big surprise ... and ... you criminals who thought that you could get away with it ... you are going to pay a hefty price ... white Christian racist Bush-supporting hypocrites included.

As I have been predicting for the last year, the "terrorist" threat to the USA has begun.

The threat is not from outside. It is from the inside ... the result of years of greed and inhumanity .... the result of unbridled and uncaring capitalism and all it represents, reflects and produces. It is the result of having sold basic human values to greed, money, materialism and selfishness.

Let me tell you about selfishness.

The USA must be the only country in the world which allows innocent people to be corralled, forced at gunpoint into stadiums for days upon days, without allowing people to leave to seek clean water, medication and food.

The lame excuses now are ... we have to wait until we have places for "the refugees" to go to, there aren't enough buses (yeah, sure! my big foot!), where are we going to put all these "refugees?"

My question is ... where are all those "average" people with big homes and lots of extra rooms?

The ranchers who have huge lots of land?

The empty summer homes?

Where are all those people who have two or three vehicles?

What is the problem here?

Are you afraid of old Black ladies and 15 month-old Black babies?
It is disgusting ... and very clearly shows the world how racism, selfishness and lack of humanity is in full swing in the "grand" USA.

Mark my words again.

The "threat" to the USA is coming from within, from its own people, not from some Arab or some "yellowskin" or some Venezuelan "dictator" in some far away country ... which most people in the USA cannot even pinpoint on a map!.

People are blaming Bush for this crime against humanity, New Orleans ... but it isn't really his fault.

It is everybody's fault. It is mine, it is yours. It is my fault because I have bought things at Walmart. It is my fault because I have eaten McDonald's. It is my fault because I worked for multinationals and corporate executives in the USA.

I am a co-conspirator in this crime against humanity.

I am responsible ... because I did not speak up against the crimes of the US government earlier (I only started about 3 years ago).

We allowed Bush and company, proven criminals and psychopaths, to invade Iraq and Afghanistan ... murdering thousand of innocent women and children ... and the aging and the sick and dying.

We allowed them to hold so much power so as to now contribute directly and intentionally to the murder of hundreds and perhaps thousands of innocent US citizens in New Orleans, almost all Blacks.
To add to the crime, there are several unused military bases in Louisiana. One base can house about 5000 people. None of these military bases has been opened up for the the people who are destitute.

None!

This is a huge crime.

What are they afraid of?
Are Black people going to tear the wood off the walls and floors of the military homes, break up the wood, mix it with garbage, throw it into empty oil barrels and then light the concoction so they can keep their hands warm through tattered gloves in wintertime ... while they drink cheap alcohol and inhale crack cocaine ... and then pass out in heaps under cardboard blankets?

Beyond the criminality of the "rescue effort" ... the whole saddening event is soaking of blatant racism.

The USA has a lot to learn ... and yes, I am saying the USA as a whole. I am not blaming only the US government on this one.

If such an event had occurred in Venezuela the vast majority of people's doors would be open to strangers ... neighbors and strangers would help each other, eat together, feed and clothe each other, offer beds to sleep on, or floors.

The volunteers, the police and the military people on rescue missions would be welcome guests in the homes of nearby residents, they would not be feared. They would not have to sleep in their cars for three days waiting to pay for an available hotel room ... as one New Orleans volunteer did. He spoke about it in WWL TV .... and appeared quite sad about the whole thing ... quite disheartened ... as if to say:

"Why am I here, I took days off work to come to help distribute food and water ... and nobody offered me even a couch to sleep on. I have to pay my hotel room as well. Why am I here?"

Where is our humanity?
