I need to encode a video and need to know what to use. I am using Adobe Premiere pro. I was wondering what the video Loose Change used. What is the best for most people to view at high quality.
If you have Premier, then you have the best. There are a lot of encoding settings already built in. The easiest to use are the Windows Media Video codecs since each one is already optimized for its particular resolution.
If you install the DivX codec, Premiere will pick it up automatically for use in your projects.
The Loose Change videos use the Windows Media Video (.wmv) for streaming and they use the Bittorrent method for distribution.
Premiere pro can't render divx for the life of it.
I have used Premier 6.0 to render DivX with good results. But DivX is a bit overrated, in my estimation. There are a lot of good codecs.
Can you please name some?
Mpeg 2 is too big, right?
What do you think loose change used?
I'm looking for a 720x480 file good quality.

Mpeg 2 is the format for making a DVD. That is the only use you will have for that.
You need to determine what the use is and the target audience that you wish to reach. If you are going to stream the video from computer to computer, Windows Media Video gives you a lot of good choices.
