A perfect example occured to me the other day. I was doin the math on the University parking at a local university. they have this army of meter maids, about 20 or 30 of them, who will ticket your car anytime of the day or night, even if you're car is the only car in the entire fucking parking lot after everyone has gone home.

I was just wondering, how much the university pays all these people? My God, if they even made 20,000 a year, that would be about a quarter million dollars they pay these parking nazis. THAT'S MORE THAN THEY GATHER IN PARKING FEES!!! In fact, it's ALOT more.

so my point is, they would just save money if they just let everyone park for free. they would save ALOT of money. People are opposed to something this incredibly rational because it just doesn't feel right, there has to be law and order, you know, you shouldn't just get somethin for free.
STOP THE INSANITY. YOU DESERVE TO PARK FOR FREE! YOU ARE WORTHY AS A CITIZEN OF SOME THINGS BEING FREE, LIKE DOCTORS SAVING YOUR LIFE, OR MAKING YOU BETTER WHEN YOUR'E SICK.

An absolute, WONDERFUL example is 911. What was the actual cost of the 911 attacks? the world trade center actually cost 400 million dollars. do you really need Bush to spend a trillion dollars of your tax money to protect you from 400 million dollars in damage? Oh of course, he's saving lives.... by getting 25,000 people seriously wounded. It just goes on and on. the thing you're afraid of is USED by the government, to actually do something even worse to you.

Say your company hires 10 security guards at 20,000 dollars a year. that's almost a quarter million dollars your paying, to prevent maybe a few laptops being stolen? a car or two being stolen? It doesn't make any sense. it's irrational. but it's the thought of someone getting away with it that drives them crazy, so crazy they actually start to hit themselves on the head, in a metaphorical way.

Just like, to pay someone to watch all of Walmart's cameras, and to install them all, and to review all the video, actually costs more than the value of what people steal in some stores. Not true in black areas, though i'm sure.
