"Why Was It So Hard for Elite Universities to Condemn Hamas Terrorism?"

I think the main reason is this: even though the big universities in the Western world are full of Jews (teachers, faculty), most students in the West still see the Jews as being "White" people, so the main narrative becomes, by default, "Israel is the bad guy." Because Hamas is too "obviously Brown" to be called the "bad guys." Plus, leftists love under-dogs and the Palestinians are very much under-dogs. Plus, America protects and funds Israel -- all the more reason for college students to hate Israel.
