While the heads of the 5 biggest oil companies will be called before congress today to explain their gouging the public in the oil prices (Exxon/Mobil reported 40.7 billion dollar profit for 2007), the independent truckers will launch a 3 day strike, they say they will block all freeways with their rigs to protest the $4 a gallon diesel prices being charged these days.
Will it affect us? you bet, deliveries of groceries will be hardest hit. We know the trucking industry moves about 90% of all goods that are shipped. What do I say; GOOD, somebody has to get these assholes attention who sit high and mighty in their corporate offices not caring what happens to the people who put food on their table.
It's my hope that congress will force the oil companies to drop their prices by $1 a gallon and freeze them there while some kind of investigation takes place to see just how bad the situation really is.
There have been numerous news reports that we have enormous oil reserves here in this country, especially in Texas. As of this post; there are reports from the flying j truck stop on interstate 20 in the Southern Dallas area.
The trucks are all parked and not moving. It remains to be seen how widespread this stoppage will be and what effect it will have. GO TRUCKERS!!!:)
