You're extremely confused.

vBulletin is a software. Not the hosting service that you run it on and delivers it to the viewer.

We do not need vBulletin software.

We need a better hosting provider, which gives better performance. 

I don't know why you keep trying to make recommendations whne you said you're not a tech person and in your earlier you said "it's a simple fix! just get vbulletin! it's cheap!" -- again you fundamentally do not know what you're speaking about.

Thank you for the explanation, perhaps I am overcomplicating things. On the Vbulletin website, they make it seem like it's simple once you have the software. You just let them host it for you with a package that suits your needs, and you're done.

This may be a silly question, but is hosting via Vbulletin too expensive (US$899.95 per year for 200GB/month)? Or is hosting via Vbulletin not that good?

The new forum software isnt the problem, so no we can't go back to vbulletin. also the version of vbulletin we ran was extremely old. it was just a matter of time before we got hacked while running it. software that isnt updated by the vendor has vulnerabilities which can be hacked. you're not supposed to run end-of-life software.

 

The problem is hosting, which can get better hosting for around $50-$100/mo for what we need. I am deciding whether I want to take the plunge on that. Yes some people say they would help donate, but that might be a month or two and then the entire thing is on me.

If it costs too much to integrate the old VNN forum into this new version (and if the process is so extremely difficult) then don't do it. And I say this as the guy who has the highest post count. I would gladly give up my 54,000+ posts rather than see you take on a financial burden that might be too difficult for you to bear, especially when you have a big family to support in real life.

If you're looking for a good compromise, then perhaps it would be enough to simply turn the old forum into a so-called museum (i.e. a site that we can read, but not post on) and then put it online in that form (which I assume would be cheaper)? That way we would all still have its vast treasure trove of information readily available, and we could occasionally copy texts, pics and memes from it and paste them into our current threads on this new version of VNN.

Also, one more thing, Varg... I'm really sorry to bother you with this stuff, but the "Last Post" button on my big EDM thread doesn't work. It's supposed to take me to the last page of the thread, but when I press it, it only takes me to the first one. Every single time. You can confirm it yourself here:

Would it be possible to fix the problem? My EDM thread is the fastest-growing thread on the forum, and it's constantly getting lots of hits and views from lurkers as well as from newly-registered members, and I'm sure they're feeling frustrated when they're not able to view all the new awesome Eurodance, trance and techno tracks that I post.

I think there are and will be very useful things so I would like to made Serbian Thread and stick it, and to edit a little bit History and Religion, Political Thought, Aryan community.

It going to be more interested to me. That is a reason as well I would have more inspiration to do more. What ever you say, I mean...you don't lose anything.

@varg So, what I want say and couldn't correct is that what is  I mean on members you believe 100% maybe i'm not in those one mems.

You know most truthful side about members due possibility to read PMs from old forum. I am hope you read mine as well and partially you will know main things on some members??? That is why I write you to put me in possibility to stick threads and edit some basic things with no like being ashamed?
I know there is something like editor, under moderator and I know I deserve it for old forum and new forum is going to be what we create and I hope we will have sometimes ,,live talk'' vi something @varg decide.

Not too long after I wrote the above post, the "Last Post" button started working, so I assumed that @varg had fixed the problem. However, it now seems that the "Last Post" button is broken again because when I click on it, it doesn't take me to the last page of my EDM thread like it's supposed to. Instead, it just leaves me stranded on the first page. Would it be possible for Varg to fix the problem permanently?
