Not Elvis; it is about the Book of Esther. A bible movie I picked up at Blockbusters. The basic story is that a Jewess is forced to marry the King of Persia, who doesn't know her race. Hammon wants to kill the Jews and steal their stuff. Esther reveals that she is a Jew and Hammon and his crowd gets slaughtered instead. This is the basis of Purim. It starts off promising: the Isaelites are committing genocide against a neighboring tribe. Even the sheep and cows must be killed. Some prophet complains to the king that he still hears sheep baaing and the job needs to be finished. He then learns that a pregnant woman escaped and demands that the Jews hunt her down since a complete extermination is required. She escapes, and five centuries later Hammon is her descendent. A grudge against the kind and gentle Jews had been passed down through the centuries and Hammon hatches a scheme to kill the Jews of Persia. He also has a pendant passed down from that escaped woman. It looks like a swastika with a snake through it. The arms of the swazi are longer and tapered (not squared off at the ends). There is a torch lit Nueremberg rally scene, with Hammon ranting about the Jews. The King is Xerxes, who is preparing an invasion of Greece. Unlike in "300", this Xerxes does not look like a refugee from "Beyond Thunderdome". The Jews are portrayed by Hammon as friends of Greece and supporters of Democracy. The sets are mostly computer generated and of good quality (think of "Lord of the Rings"). I thought they would show the massacre of Hammon at the end, but they did not. While Hammon was hanged, all his sons were, too, but this was not mentioned (just Hammons death). It was fun trying to recognize the actors. While Esther was an unknown, I recognize most of the others. Baltor of Battlestar Galactica played Hammon. The Warlord
