American journalist Brent Renaud was killed in Ukraine by Russian forces during a fire fight. This was announced in a post on Facebook by the Chief of Police of the Kiev region, Andrei Nebitov.

On Twitter, photos of the reporter's documents have been released which seem to confirm his fate. According to Ukrainian security forces, Brent Renaud was killed and a colleague of him was injured in Irpin, a town in the suburbs of Kiev where fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces has raged for days.

In the area, the Russians are trying to conclude the encirclement of the Ukrainian capital before the final assault.
