ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A teen shot and killed Thursday by an 11-year-old has been identified.

Lamonte Streeter, 16, was shot during what police believe was a home invasion. According to Sgt. Brian Schellman, a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, the incident occurred on the 10,000 block of Hallwood Drive around 2:25 p.m.

Police believe two suspects attempted to break into the house when an 11-year-old boy inside the home picked up a loaded gun and fired one shot, striking the 16-year-old. The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene inside the home.

A second suspect ran from the scene but is now in custody.

Sgt. Schellman says two subjects approached the home twice earlier in the day, but never were able to get inside.

A 4-year-old girl was also in the home during the incident. The mother of the two children was not home during the shooting and is cooperating with the investigation.

The St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is investigating.
