Arid Uka, left, arrives in court in Frankfurt where he confessed to killing two U.S. airmen BORIS ROESSLER/AFP/Getty Images)A Kosovo Albanian who today admitted killing two U.S. airmen at Frankfurt airport said he carried out the attack after watching a clip of a Muslim woman being raped by American soldiers, which he mistakenly thought was real.
Arid Uki, said the night before the attack he had watched the video posted on Facebook, which turned out to be a scene from the 2007 Brian De Palma film 'Redacted'.
He said he then decided he should do anything possible to prevent more American soldiers from going to Afghanistan.
'I thought what I saw in that video these people would do in Afghanistan,' he told the court.
Uka, 21, is charged with two counts of murder for allegedly killing Senior Airman Nicholas Alden, a 25-year-old from South Carolina, and 21-year-old Airman 1st Class Zachary Cuddeback of Virginia, in March.He also faces three counts of attempted murder in connection with the wounding of two others.
Although Germany has suffered scores of terrorist attacks in past decades, largely from leftist groups like the Red Army Faction, the airport attack was the first attributed to an Islamic extremist.
