AURORA | Albertsons will pay $8.9 million to 168 current and former employees at its Aurora distribution center to settle a discrimination lawsuit that claimed black and Hispanic employees were subjected to swastikas and lynching drawings.
The EEOC said the graffiti included racial and ethnic slurs, depictions of lynchings, swastikas, and white supremacist and anti-immigrant statements and was often scrawled on the walls of a men’s bathroom. According to the statement, the men’s room graffiti was so offensive several employees would relieve themselves outside the building or go home at lunchtime rather than use it.
