Art Jones, who made his name in the movement as a member of the NSWPP and several related organizations in the 1970s, is running for Congress in Illinois' 3rd District in the Republican Party primary.

Last year, Art spent $9,000 of his own money campaigning and won 29% of the vote, despite a vicious Republican smear campaign designed to, first, keep him off the ballot, and, second, to support his opponent with last minute phone calls to Republican voters. The Republicans spent heavily to prevent Art from winning the nomination, and derailed him with legal challenges to his signatures.

This year, Art filed early and was the first candidate to file for election, guaranteeing him the top spot on the ballot. Art is an ANSWP supporter who has managed several very successful election campaigns in Wisconsin and Illinois in the past three decades, and a valuable asset to the movement.

All white activists are encouraged to contribute to Art's campaign. This year, Art tells me, he does not have the financial resources he had during the past campaign, and will be more dependent on donations from the community than he has been in the past. He needs money right now for signs and for literature, which ANSWP activists will distribute door to door in his district.

Each individual can contribute up to $2300 to his election efforts.
