A rally against Governor Sarah Palin held on Sept. 13 in Anchorage attracted an estimated 1,500 anti-Palin protestors. Approximately 100 pro-Palin activists showed up in opposition. There was no violence or arrests.
Approximately 20 percent of the anti-Palin activists were hard-core Obama supporters. They constituted the pro-abortion activists, the feminists, the enviro-whackos, and even a few anti-racists who compared Sarah Palin to George Wallace (kind of an insult to Wallace, I imagine). The remainder had more mainstream concerns, although there was a lot of bigotry expressed against Palin's religious connections. Some even described Palin's church as anti-Semitic because the church previously hosted a Jews for Jesus preacher.
Primary media story from the Anchorage Daily News. Blogged on Alaska Pride. Here's a five-minute YouTube video designed to show the different concerns of the participants.

This rally was preceded by a choreographed set-piece pro-Palin rally downtown about 2 1/2 hours earlier.
