"The Biden administration on Thursday will take its most tangible steps yet to get the private sector to ramp up coronavirus vaccine requirements for its employees.

The Labor Department is developing a rule to require private sector companies with more than 100 employees to ensure workers get vaccinated against the coronavirus or face weekly testing before going to work, a senior administration official said on a call with reporters Thursday afternoon."

"In another example of Biden's desire to ramp up vaccination coverage, he will announce an executive order requiring the majority of federal workers and contractors to get vaccinated against the coronavirus and eliminating previous options for avoiding inoculation. His previous policy allowed for federal workers and contractors to undergo several mitigation measures, including masking and regular testing, if they didn't want to take the shot."

"In total, the new vaccination requirements are expected to cover about two-thirds of all the workers in the U.S., or about 100 million Americans, according to the official.

Biden on Thursday will additionally call on "entertainment venues like sports arenas, large concert halls and other venues where large groups of people gather to require that their patrons be vaccinated or show a negative test for entry," according to a White House fact sheet. He will also call on states to adopt vaccine requirements for all school employees."
