Found out this black from my mma gym went berzerk and attacked a cop. I was paired up with him a couple times during training and I was very close to beating his ass into the ground since he started an confrontation outside the gym with me. Was told yesterday of what he did and searched it. TNB

SOMERVILLE — A 40-year-old Hillsborough man, who reportedly attacked a Somerville Police patrol car with an ax and sledgehammer and was then shot twice by a Somerville Police Officer, was charged today for the attempted murder of the same officer.

Kendell Miller of Brown Street was also charged with third-degree possession of weapons for unlawful purpose, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor.

Police said that at about 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, in the area of Holly Glen Road in Somerville, a police officer was on patrol driving north on South Bridge Street when he saw a vehicle traveling southbound on the same street whose driver was beeping his horn and motioning to the officer. The vehicle then turned right onto Holly Glen Road, which is a cul-de-sac.

According to investigators, the vehicle, a green Dodge Neon, was found to be registered to Kendall Miller of Brown Street in Hillsborough. After the car turned onto Holly Glen Road, it drove to the end of the cul-de-sac and made a u-turn heading back toward Bridge Street. The vehicle stopped and awaited the officer’s arrival.

The Somerville police officer pulled alongside the car at which time Miller reportedly began hollering at the officer. The officer then proceeded to drive farther into the cul-de-sac, turned around and pulled behind defendant Miller’s car. Miller then exited his vehicle carrying an ax, sledgehammer and a pair of spiked brass knuckles, then proceeded toward the patrol car with the weapons held in his hands overhead in a threatening manner.

The officer then exited his vehicle, took cover behind the car and hollered commands to Miller, who disregarded the officer’s commands then allegedly smashed the windshield and back driver side window of the police car with a sledgehammer. He then began advancing toward the officer in a threatening manner continuing to ignore the officer’s verbal commands and hollered back at the officer several times “do what you gotta do.”

As the defendant continued towards the officer in a threatening manner with his weapons, in fear for his personal safety, the officer fired his service weapon at Miller striking him twice in the abdominal region.
