Gruesome Discovery: Body Parts Found

(WXYZ) Police are investigating a very disturbing scene on Detroit's West Side. Body Parts were found near the steps of an abandoned home.

A man who lives in a nearby shelter told police he discovered the body parts when he was going to hide some bottles he collected in the abandoned home.

When investigators arrived at the scene they found two thighs, two forearms with the hands cut off, and two legs that were dismembered below the knee.

They believe the victim may be a black female. Police believe the body was dismembered somewhere else, and the parts dumped later at the abandoned home. Investigators will canvas the neighborhood to determine if anyone from the area has been missing.

The Medical Examiner was also called out to the scene at Park and Peterboro to try and determine when the victim was dismembered.
