a hard time believing any auction site would allow the sale of human
remains!

GHOULS LOOT WAR GRAVES
THIEVES are looting graves of German soldiers killed in World War II and selling body parts on the internet.
The ghouls are digging up Russian battlefields where many of the two million Nazi dead are buried.
And a sinister black market has grown on US auction websites for uniforms, medals, bones and even helmets with the skulls still inside.
A campaigner said: "Once the bones are gone so is the last hope of identifying the soldier."

who do not adequately realize the irritations they inflict." - H.G. Wells (November 11, 1933)

I wouldn't be suprised. The Russian Militaria market is really large now (so it is attracting the wrong types). If you're a collector, most of the new items you'd see for sale are from the Russian battlefields.
Ya,I'm not a collector either, but several of my relatives were German officers and I have a ton of their stuff; and collectors always offer to pay ridiculous prices for stuff I simply can't sell.Even my relatives and kids think I should sell it,but I think their nuts.Luckily, I don't need the bucks.
I guess it's a good thing I don't know where they were buried; or even if they were,as I'd be wondering if this article was one of them.
This is one of the moremacabre accounts of German body parts.

“A word about the cover photograph . . .
Although the illustration on the album cover may seem a trifle bizarre to the uninitiated, knowing intimates of Monk will recognize the setting as that of his studio, an important part of hisManhattanapartment. In this atelier are the memorabilia of an adventurous and richly rewarding life. Most noticeable, perhaps, is the Nazi storm trooper. As real as he looks, he is stuffed, a trophy of Monk's forays as a member of the French Resistance movement in World War II, the famed FFI.With a cry of "Take that, you honkie Kraut!" Capitaine Monk shot him cleanly and truly through the heart.“ --Gil McKean
It was said that Stalin collected Adolf Hitler/German items and kept them all in a bunker.
There are also jews and other assorted types who collect these items (hoarding) so that no one else can collect and display them. I have scouted buyers on ebay with locations originating from Israel that purchase Southern Civil War items for example.
There are also a ton of fake items being sold on places like ebay for high prices (which forces collectors to in turn raise the price on legit items).
The Knights Cross and Anti-Partisan Badge are good examples of this. The cross and badge have been faked to such a high degree that the legit ones are thousands and thousands of dollars. Also the fact is that the quality and workmanship of these German badges is incredible!
