This name change is to allow the organization to be more inclusive. Now girls and gays are allowed as well as gay scout leaders. I don't see why girls need to join because there are already girl scout groups.
Letting gay scout leaders join in 2015 doesn't seem like a good idea since the organization was hit with a 2.5 billion dollar lawsuit for sexual abuse involving 82,000 boys.
Since the organization started in 1910 130 million Americans have joined the scouts.
