New Information: Puppy Mutilates Baby's Genitals

At the Frayser apartment complex where the attack happened, people are still talking about it nine days later.

"It's crazy," says neighbor Lakisha Lawrence. "I can't believe a puppy could chew the private parts, everything, off a baby. I don't think that's possible."

The 5 month-old boy remains at Lebonheur, upgraded to fair condition.

The puppy accused of mutilating the infant's genitals is at the Memphis Animal Services shelter.

And neighbors aren't the only ones who say there's no way a dog could do such a thing to a child.

An e-mail is circulating around Memphis newsrooms claiming a person caused the child's injuries. The writer of the e-mail says someone "scooped out" the baby's genitals with a "straight edged knife or razor".

The e-mail's author also claims "cops are looking into the possibility that this was a gang retaliation against the mother or one of her relatives."

But Memphis Police tell Eyewitness News Everywhere the information in the e-mail is false.

"It's rumor and innuendo," says Lt. Joe Scott of the MPD's Investigative Services Division. "This case has been ruled an animal injury. The injury was caused by an animal."

Lt. Scott says the MPD's findings are based on the results of an evaluation performed on the child by medical professionals.

"These injuries were not inflicted by an adult or a person," says Lt. Scott. "They were inflicted by an animal. And we have medical documentation to that fact."

The puppy's fate remains unclear. ([color="Blue"]Poster's Note: I say the dog is entitled to formal commendation for sterilizing what would doubtlessly grow up to be just another tax-dollar-sucking, crime "time bomb" of a nigger.)

As for the baby boy, hospital sources say he faces a long and difficult road to recovery. His grandmother has been by his side and is fiercely protective of his privacy. She has declined interview requests and also refused to release her grandson's picture to the media.

The MPD's Child Advocacy Group and The Department of Children's Services are still investigating the case trying to determine how the puppy got access to the child.

Neighbors back at the apartment complex, also want to know how the attack could have ever happened.

"Where was the mom at?" ([color="Blue"]Poster's Note: I'm sure she was indulging in some sweet, sweet crack.) asks Lakisha Lawrence. "Because the injuries didn't happen in a split second. It had to go on for awhile and I know the baby was crying. So where was the mom all that time?"
