The mongrel left the chickens to die two weeks ago and it was his neighbors complaining about the stench when authorities found out.......
A Turlock, California, rancher left 50,000 chickens outside his ranch on Tuesday to starve to death, reports CBS Sacramento. About a third of the birds did just that, died, before animal rescuers stepped in on Thursday and saved the remainder.

Stanislaus County Animal Services was joined by Animal Place, a rescue agency, in the effort to load the birds onto trucks for relocation to shelters. The birds had not been fed for two weeks, raising initial fears that the survivors would need to be euthanized.
