Danvers says it will stop informing the public of reported hate speech, graffiti at schools

DANVERS, Mass. — A Danvers resident reported homophobic graffiti at the softball field on Pickering Street on Sunday. This incident is part of a string of similar incidents dating back to November.
However, the Town decided it will no longer issue public statements every time a similar incident is discovered, according to town officials.
The town of Danvers fears the attention created by a public statement is encouraging more of the same behavior.
