East Hastings rivals anything NY, Chicago or LA has. There is a large cop shop around the corner from Carnegie Center. Across the street from Carnegie center, the Mexican drug dealers make $25,000 each and every time the $400+ welfare checks come out. (The dope fiends get $400+ as well as , in many cases, free hotel rents and styrofoam-catered meals 3 times a day delivered by transport bicycling couriers). At Pigeon Bank, my old bank, people literally skateboard inside to the teller, they have AIDS lesions, crack whore hookers will pull up or drop their dresses and flash you, and you get offered hot guitars and $600 to $3,000 bikes for $10-$50. The bank tellers are all young and usually wear surgical gloves. The spics at the check cashing across from Carnegie have White runners who touch the dope. The Mexicans don't touch it. They just handle the money to avoid legal incrimination by Canada's standards. If you try to film them, they will beat you up instantly with zero repurcussion from the police. They literally stand and bark offers outside the check-cashing place. The cop shop is maybe 40 yards away, tops. It is where I was processed and held. Corruption. Decay. Anything goes.

In both day and night I have seen these people 'mine' a several feet long crack in the sidewalk with knives or a fork for what they think is crack cocaine or meth--anything that even remotely looks like it. I have been to Bombay and Calcutta. East Hastings is on par.
