St. George teacher accused of having sex with teen

ST. GEORGE — A 42-year-old elementary school teacher was arrested Thursday after police say they learned of a relationship he was allegedly having with a 17-year-old boy.

Douglas Bullock, of St. George, was arrested for investigation of 12 counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year old after the boy came forward to police, said St. George police officer James Schafer.

Schafer said the boy reported what he described as a "relationship" to the police and the police investigated the incident, leading them to Bullock. He said investigators are unsure how long the relationship lasted, but did say that whatever happened between the two males appeared to be consensual.

Bullock is a teacher at Bloomington Hills Elementary School in the Washington County School District. A release from the school district Friday said the district is "very concerned" about the arrest. Bullock has been placed on administrative leave and district officials said they do not believe any elementary school students were involved.

Bullock was booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility.

I have kids at this school, and first of all almost didn't recognize the picture of Mr. Bullock. I talked with him 2 days ago so I know what he looks like.
Mr Bullock was gay. Bloomington hills elementary is the highest rated elementary in southern utah. the students are from some of the most conservative lds backgrounds. Parents seemed to love Mr. Bullock and I was surprised about strict lds families wanting their child to be taught by someone who was gay. The repeated answer was what a great teacher he was. My kids were not in his class but his website was by far the best of any teacher, better then the school's website.

I do not believe Mr. Bullock ever claimed to be LDS but I could be wrong.

KSL's story is a bit short. He was arrested for sodomy of someone aged 16-18 so it was not an elementary school student(not trying to lessen what he did or is accused of but trying to list the facts.

Also the school has replaced him already. A new teacher is starting next tuesday.

This isn't some ghetto school, either. This is a "top of the line" elementary school in a conservatard area. Utah's in the midst of an epidemic of teacher-student "liaisons". Earlier this year, two teachers from the same school, Valynne Bowers and Linda Nef, were caught banging the same boy at Bountiful Jr. High. Seems like the only "safe schools" any more are "home schools".
