U.S. Officials Find Afghan Network Undermining Government, Aiding Taliban
U.S. officials in Afghanistan have spent thousands of hours over the past few years charting webs of connections between members of President Hamid Karzai's family, businessmen, corrupt officials, drug traffickers and Taliban commanders.
Using intelligence drawn in part from informants and a powerful wiretapping system, these officials say they have found an economic and political order—underwritten by billions of dollars in aid, reconstruction and logistics funds from the West—that is undermining the Afghan government from within and aiding a Taliban insurgency that is trying to topple it from without.
Essentially, your tax dollars, white man, have gone to pay for a sophisticated modern government infrastructure that is now firmly devoted to the growth of poppy fields and the exportation of 90% of the world's opium.
Opium demand worldwide is estimated at 5000 tons. Afghanistan fields produced 7600 tons in 2009. If production in 2010 falls 25% (as expected) due to a mysterious fungus that hit the fields this year, the total supply will still be more than the world can absorb. In fact, the cartels are believed to be hoarding over 10,000 tons which they're keeping off the market just to keep opium prices high.
Drug exportation is known to be taking place to the east and south into Pakistan, to the north into poor Islamic republics that were once part of the Soviet Union. Some goes west directly into Iran.
The most profitable route (called The Golden Route) runs from Afghanistan, into Pakistan and into eastern Iran. As one article described it ten years ago http://mondediplo.com/2002/03/13drug :
Taking the southern route, after a detour via Pakistan, the drugs enter Iran along tracks that smugglers have used for centuries, carried by car or motorbike, on foot, or in convoys of dozens of four-by-fours with escorts bristling with cell phones, night-vision goggles, Kalashnikovs, rocket launchers and even United States-made Stinger missiles. The flow of drugs across the Iranian border is unstoppable. There are even caravans of camels that know the route so well they no longer need to be led. Each animal can transport up to seven tonnes of drugs. At traditional celebrations, the camels are fed opium to make them dance.
Some of the opium entering Iran is eventually turned into heroin and is transported by Hezbollah into the United States through agreements with Mexican drug cartels.
White American and NATO soldiers are no longer dying in Afghanistan fighting Islamic terrorism. That's just the outward face that has to be put on to explain that we have failed miserably. White soldiers are dying to destroy a corrupt drug network which reaches into the United States.
It's conceivable, for example, that a young white private from Indiana guarding a base in Afghanistan, has a wife in America buying heroin from some nigger in Chicago, who bought it from some Mexican in Dallas, who bought it from a cartel member in Tijuana, who bought it from someone who had it shipped from Lebanon, after being brought in from Iran, after being smuggled from the fields ten miles from the private's base in Afghanistan.
