A 37-year-old former social worker from New York who worked with children pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse material crimes in federal court.
Renee Hoberman, also known as “Rina,” pleaded guilty last week in U.S. Court for the Eastern District of New York to receipt and distribution of child pornography.
Investigators said that Hoberman admitted to using encrypted social media messaging applications to upload, receive and trade digital videos and images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, including several videos of infants six months to one year of age being physically restrained and raped by an adult male as the infants cried and frantically screamed for the duration of the videos.
Hoberman was also found to have engaged in online “chats” where she posed as a man and talked about sexually abusing “his” own children and children of friends. She then uploaded and sent two videos containing child sexual abuse material, claiming the videos depicted her own children.
Hoberman faces a maximum of 20 years in prison at her sentencing following a presentence investigation.
