SANFORD, Fla. - Police are asking residents to be extra vigilant after a man tried to grab a teenage girl while she was walking home from school Friday in Sanford.
Sanford police said before 4 p.m. Friday, the teen was walking home from school near 27th Street and Palmetto Avenue, and was contacted by a suspicious man.
The man grabbed the girl by her arm and hair, and swung her around. Police said the teen fought him off by swinging her arms and kicking him in his private parts.
At no point did the man did not speak to the girl. Police said the girl went to an adult who contacted police.
The man is described as a black man in his mid-20s who is 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build and dark complexion. At the time of the incident, police said the man was described as having a foul odor, twisty hair style and scruffy facial hair.
He was wearing a blank tank-top that had holes and rolled up blue jeans, police said.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Crimeline at 800 423-TIPS (8477). Police said calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous and tips to Crimeline that lead to solving a felony case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
