In recent days the website of Golden Dawn was the target of a sustained electronic attack. The main website of Golden Dawn was the target of hackers, but particularly those who pay and finance them, to try and silence the expression of true resistance against the system- Golden Dawn.

Unfortunately for the aggressors, and fortunately for us, Golden Dawn’s security team and website administrators weathered the attacks and have brought back the only free medium where Golden Dawn is able to speak for itself, free of slanders, the internet. The following is a technical analysis of what happened exactly, the intensifying desperation of these enemies, and previous incidents with these establishment stooges that show who they are really working for.

The first assault on xryshaygh.com was initiated during the period of elections in 2012, this was a fairly typical TCP/UDP Layer 3 DDoS attack. On October 26th 2013, Golden Dawn was the subject of a Layer 4/5 combination attack. The latest attack was layer 7, which leaps over security measures by creating seemingly valid HTTP requests through a TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), making the source undetectable.

Essentially this type of attack mimics the behavior of a real human visitor because it is difficult to tell apart from a legitimate visitor trying to dump resources of the server. Simultaneously, these “visitors” assault with small packets (hard to trace) to overwhelm the server so it cannot handle much traffic. The following diagram shows a ranking of different types of denial-of-service (DOS) attacks. Level 7 is at the top of the rankings.

What is most spectacular about this is that to mount a Layer 7 attack it costs anywhere from 100 up to 1000 dollars per hour! This is not the work of amateurs, these are professionals being paid to succeed, due to the diversifying of strategies and tactics at various points of the attacks since Golden Dawn was elected to parliament. They are unsure of themselves and are frantically throwing everything to knock the Golden Dawn website offline.

It’s also obvious that the repeat attackers are very confident that they will never get caught. Behind these professionals might be intelligence agencies, political parties, or anyone who has enough money to buy such attacks off the black market.
