A young gung-ho patriotic relative of mine joined the military a few years back intending to make it a career. Fortunately, he was given stateside duty for his first enlistment to date. The rest of his unit shipped out to Iraq.

His superiors recently offered him $50,000 to re-enlist, with obvious prospects for foreign deployment in the near future. In proper militarese he told them to 'take this job and shove it'!

Our former superpatriot discovered some truth. Thankfully, constant communication with his buddies wisened him up. Good friends in Iraq may have saved his life.
