According to Mr. Miller's book, the whole incident would have been avoided if the lead car in the convoy hadn't stopped right in the middle of the "death to the klan" rioters, and that car was being driven by a police informant.

No doubt about it, Eichmann. Our caravan of only 9 vehicles would have driven right on past them. I was in the 2nd vehicle and directly behind the police informant's pick-up truck, and so I know what I'm saying is a fact.
