HENDERSON, N.C. --

All 34 passengers on a Greyhound bus traveling from Richmond to Raleigh are safe this morning after a man with a gun hijacked the bus Thursday night.

Warren County Sheriff Johnny Williams said Jose Flores, 32, of Arlington, VA has been taken into custody in Warren County.

Flores faces one kidnapping charge at this time, according to the Warren County Jail.

Sgt. Jeff Gordon with the State Highway Patrol said the suspect boarded the bus in Warren County around 10:17 p.m. He says suspect forced the driver to go down I-85 to US-1 business to a gas station in the area.

Sgt. Gordon said the suspect released some passengers along the interstate and the remaining passengers were released at the gas station.

Another Greyhound bus picked up the passengers and transported them to Raleigh early Friday morning.

One passenger took the initiative to try to take down the suspect.

"When he turned around and she (the driver) opened the door, it looked like he dropped the gun so I got up and tried to push him out the door," said Robert Fusco. "But when I did, he caught me and turned around and pointed the gun to my chest and me to sit down - so I sat down. But right then, I thought I was going to get shot."

“He just kept yelling, 'You all got a problem! I got nine shots and I’ll start killing everybody from the front,'” said passenger Xavier Little.

The suspect is currently in custody.
