Haaretz Kike Reminds Fellow Jews of the Positives of Parasitism:

- If agreements are ever achieved between the U.S. and Syria and/or the U.S. and Iran, it is worth reading a sensible article in this week's Economist magazine to see how slight the chances are that Israel would be hurt by this. On the contrary: Its interests as a faithful ally of the U.S. will be taken into account in any such agreements.

- The U.S. coordinates, and will continue to do so as long as there is no fundamental change in the circumstances, with the bloc of moderate Arab states. Thus via the U.S., Israel is "annexed" to this bloc.

- For years, Israel has received American cover for its nuclear program, and this protects it from international pressure. And coordination with the U.S. will be even more essential if Iran's nuclear plans come to fruition. In that case, Israel will need an arrangement that provides it with an American umbrella for deterrence purposes.

- There is no need to expand on the importance of continuing American support in the international arena, and particularly at the United Nations. American military aid also continues to be essential - less from the financial perspective (Israel is capable of raising the equivalent of the military grant from its own resources) than from the military perspective (relatively free access to advanced weaponry, etc.).

Fellow kikes chime in on Blog (much wringing of hands and violins in background):

Natallie Durson: "Actually, Israeli influence is strong in American government circles. This is due primarily to lobbying groups and some shared interests. The lobbying gruops often skirt and even cross the legal boundries in the USA. This could become a problem at some point. The shared interests are diverging recently. At the beginning of the Lebanon war, Bush warned Israel that an over-vigorous Israeli response could endanger the Siniora government. We see it happening today. Regarding American subsidies for Israels defense: it was reported earlier this month that Israel was using some of this money to purchase mezuzas and other Judaica from American sources. These are American taxpayers dollars. That kind of thing could explode into a big mess, especially in view of the changing American political climate. If Israel doesn`t take greater care with the "special relationship", that relationship will fade, fade, fade, away."

SpyGuy:"The US population [and US politicians] will soon abandon Israel because the US has too many MAJOR internal problems that are being ignored and will cause the US to rapidly decline. The Israeli lobby will be unable to prevent this. Some of these problems are:

- Trillions of dollars of debt owed to China.
- An ineffective/costly health care system that will destroy the economy.
- An ineffective/costly retirement system that will bankrupt the nation.
- No plan for "Peak Oil." Peak oil does NOT mean all oil disappears overnight, but all CHEAP oil does. The US economy is built on cheap oil, so the economy will suffer greatly and the US will be easily blackmailed by oil producers. Note also that even though the oil producers will be pumping less oil, they will be getting more for each barrel.
- the US military personnel and material has been decimated by Iraq.
- Transferring its industrial base to China.
And the list goes on. The US will choose its own survival over Israel."

Moderator: "Stick to the American sponsored road map. Which bits?

Phase I - as early as May 2003:
- Israeli withdrawal and freeze on settlement expansion;
- Palestinian elections;
- End to Palestinian violence;
- Palestinian political reform.

Israel is actively expanding settlements both inside and outside the West Bank Barrier. How does this stick to the American sponsored roadmap?"

JP: "An incredible article for anyone with a slight sense of realism. The single relevant point to make in evaluating the importance of the US-Israeli relationship is the fact that Israel does not have any other friends left..."

Tosefta: "Of course Israel should coordinate policy with its only friend and protector. But Tal does not take into account two factors:
1. Israel has great influence on US policy.
2. Israel knows its neighborhood and needs far better than US policy makers (who are not too bright nowadays in any case).

It follows that Israel must be smart enough to decide for itself what policy is good to it, then go and convince the US that this is good policy for all involved. Israel has influence (The Lobby) over Congress, and also over the Republican administration thru the Evangelical simpletons. There is no excuse to just wait and let the US decide what should happen. Example: Syria. Tal believes that Syria wants Lebanon more than the Golan. A silly assertion. Not that they will not be happier if they got Lebanon, but realistically, they are going to get the Golan first because this is their territory according to int`l law, so they work harder to get the Golan back. Here is a peace plan that Israel can convince the US to pursue:

1. Make peace with Syria. The Syrians offered it to Sharon (following Hafez Assad moves). Syria at peace will kill Hizballah, and get Meshal and other Palestinian rejectionists out of there. Cost: The Golan.
2. Make peace with Lebanon. They want it, and nothing will stop it now.
3. Make peace with the Palestinians. Abbas wants it, and Hamas was about ready to join the Prisoners` Document, essentially adopting Fatah positions. Cost: Nearly all/all the Territories.
4. Make peace with all Arab states, as per the Saudi plan.
5. Iran, having been pushed out of the region, looks elsewhere to cause trouble. Iraq and Afghanistan will keep them and the US busy. Israel is no longer of central interest to them."

Nathan: "Yes, the US military has been "decimated" by the war in Iraq. Our troops are going into combat for a FIFTH tour of duty -- this is unprecedented. Thousands of troops have been permanently wounded. Recruitment of new troops is way below par. Equipment has been damaged and cannot be replaced -- the convoys can`t get through. To call someone a "Muslim in the West" because that person sees things from the AMERICAN point of view is stupid."
-----

Don:"Nations DO NOT HAVE FRIENDS or ENEMIES! They have ALLIES & OPPONENTS! These will change with the situation. If the USA thought its Israeli alliance really endangered its oil supply, it would abandon Israel. If the USA`s biggest creditor China decided to block the overdraft, the USA would wriggle out of the alliance.

These are the unchanging facts of international diplomacy. Israel is a net drain on US resources, valid only as long as it helps US leverage in the mid east. Hence the Israeli govt will make no real attempt making peace. They need arabs hostile to Israel & the USA to keep the US propping them up.

What Israel really needs is a contingency plan for when Uncle Sam finds the cost of his Israeli affair exceeds his budget."

Margaret: "As long as Israel lives off the American taxpayer, Israel is not a sovereign country. I say that because America is losing it`s patience with Israel, given the trouble being friends with Israel has caused for Americans. It`s only a matter of time before the gig is up, and the USA walks on Israel."
-----

Hezi: "in 1967 war....the USA didnt "help" israel at all....how fast all forget the franch did. we did preety good without the USA...didnt we? 6 days...haha, dont be naive all, Israel is ready to fight alone...we never go to OVENS again....so all israel haters.....keep dreaming, the USA get from Israel as much as they give...dont think 4 a moment the USA doing anything 4 free."
-----

Charles: "U.S. Israeli relations - after the strike on Iran, after the economic disruption and security chaos that will reign, in the ME and in the U.S. and Saudi oil reserves are revealed as pathetic, and the U.S.public begins to feel the energy, ecomonic and security pinch of $200 bbl oil, SOME charismatic pol will start tot sell the idea that all America;s problem`s in the region DO stem from the U.S./Israeli special relationship, rest assurred the penny will drop and policy, money flows, weapons flows, not mention the direction American forcees in the ME are currently aiming, will be reversed. If Israel can`t make peace - and I mean a real PAl state peace, which can only mean 1967 with global guarantees to BOTH parties - now at the height of your powers and influence in Washington, it will slowly dawn on the voters where their interests lay. For heaven`s sake, the evangelicals alone desire the destruction of Israel. Wait`ll the oil companies demand it."
