A 46-year-old man is being treated for severe burns at Portland’s Legacy Emanuel Hospital after an early-morning fire in the Sifton neighborhood.
Firefighters responded to 7015 N.E. 144th Ave. at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to find the man out in the street, burned and “clearly in pain,” said Jim Flaherty, firefighter-spokesman for the Vancouver Fire Department.
The victim was identified as Hal Turner by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Flaherty said the victim was an acquaintance of the homeowner, Lori Payne.
Flaherty said it appeared Turner was burned when he tried to push a 1988 Mazda sedan out of the garage after it caught fire. Turner was working on the car’s gas tank when it ignited, he said. Once out in the driveway, the fire spread to a parked 1992 Ford Explorer.
Once fire crews arrived, they got Turner on his way to the hospital and doused the flames in about 15 minutes. Turner’s condition was not available Wednesday morning.
The house sustained about $2,000 worth of damage and the fire was contained to the garage. The cars, worth about $1,000 together, were totaled.
Flaherty said it was a good warning about working on gas tanks.
“There’s still fumes and vapors,” he said. “If something flashes, you are going to be hurt.”
It was not clear what sparked Wednesday’s blaze and it was still being investigated, Flaherty said.

Lothario, you could easily have researched this to realize this wasn't Hal, but you didn't. On the other hand, if it's a joke thread, it's not very funny. Maybe you're just tipping us early on after your 12?

Nah Jim, I mean like deny him the necessary amount of painkillers. Remember this is a non-racist man going into a hospital, a hospital staffed by AMERICANS who may think they have a free pass to make him miserable.
